Clap our hands

Lyrics

Traditional words · The Baby’s Opera, page 10

Here we go round the mulberry bush, The mulberry bush, the mulberry bush; Here we go round the mulberry bush, All on a frosty morning.

This is the way we clap our hands, This is the way we clap our hands, This is the way we clap our hands, All on a frosty morning.

About this tune

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush is a traditional singing game. Its repeated words and everyday actions invite a group to sing and move together.

The Baby’s Opera includes both the familiar mulberry-bush refrain and a contrasting “clap our hands” verse. The melody’s lively six-eight rhythm gives each bar two swinging pulses.
