About this tune

Morrison’s Jig is associated with the Sligo fiddler James Morrison, who emigrated to America in 1915. It is a familiar tune in Irish sessions and is also known as The Stick Across the Hob.

The low, insistent first part contrasts with a flowing upper-register melody. Its E-dorian colour and two lilting pulses per bar give the jig its distinctive momentum.
