About this tune
The Kesh is a traditional Irish double jig. The Bothy Band recorded it on their 1975 debut album, helping make it a widely recognized session tune.
The melody moves with two lilting pulses in each bar. A repeated-note opening gives way to a higher answering strain, creating a bright contrast between the tune’s two parts.
